Learn how to install the PECPool Cloud Miner Monitor on a Windows computer, prepare the mining network, obtain your Farm Key and Farm Secret, complete the installer, verify miner data in the panel, and troubleshoot common installation and connectivity problems.

PECPool Monitoring allows mining operators to collect operational information from supported ASIC miners and display it through the PECPool panel.

The monitoring software runs as a Windows-based background service on a computer or server that can communicate with both PECPool and the mining devices.

After installation, the monitoring service can help PECPool display information such as:

  • Miner status
  • Local miner hashrate
  • Temperature and cooling information
  • Miner uptime
  • Device model and network information
  • Hardware and operational status
  • Supported remote-management information

This guide explains how to prepare the monitoring computer, obtain the required credentials, install the PECPool Cloud Miner Monitor, verify the installation, and solve common problems.

What Is PECPool Monitoring?

PECPool Monitoring is different from normal pool-side worker monitoring.

When an ASIC miner connects to a PECPool stratum server, PECPool can calculate pool-side information such as worker status, accepted shares, and effective hashrate.

The PECPool Cloud Miner Monitor adds direct access to supported miner information through the local mining network.

Monitoring Type Source of Information Examples
Pool-Side Monitoring Shares received by PECPool Worker status, effective hashrate, accepted shares
Miner Monitoring Direct communication with the ASIC miner Temperature, local hashrate, uptime, model, hardware status

The monitoring service does not replace the miner's stratum configuration. Your miners must still be configured with the correct PECPool Pool URL, mining account, and worker name.

System Requirements

The published minimum requirements for the Windows monitoring computer are:

Component Minimum Requirement
Processor 2.5 GHz
Memory 2 GB RAM
Storage 50 GB available disk space
Operating System Supported Windows computer or Windows Server
Internet Stable and continuous internet connection
Local Network Network access to the monitored ASIC miners

A larger mining operation may require more processor, memory, and network capacity depending on the number of miners and the amount of collected information.

Where Should the Monitoring Software Be Installed?

Install PECPool Monitoring on a Windows computer or server that:

  • Can remain powered on continuously
  • Has a stable internet connection
  • Can reach the local IP addresses of the ASIC miners
  • Is protected against unauthorized access
  • Is not frequently shut down or disconnected

The monitoring computer should normally be connected to the same local network as the miners.

It can also be located on another routed network when the required network access is available through a secure site-to-site connection or VPN.

Installing the software on a personal computer that is regularly turned off will interrupt miner monitoring whenever that computer is unavailable.

Prepare the Mining Network

Before installing the monitoring software, confirm that the Windows computer can communicate with the miners.

Check the following:

  • The monitoring computer and miners have valid local IP addresses.
  • The miners can be reached from the Windows computer.
  • Network routing between the computer and miners is available.
  • No firewall rule blocks local communication with the miners.
  • The miners' management interfaces are accessible from the monitoring network.
  • Duplicate IP addresses do not exist.

Test a Miner IP Address

From the Windows monitoring computer, open Command Prompt and test the local IP address of a miner:

ping 192.168.1.100

Replace the example IP address with the actual address of your miner.

Some miners may not reply to Ping even when their management interface is accessible. You should also test the miner's web interface in a browser:

http://192.168.1.100

If the monitoring computer cannot reach the miner, correct the local network, routing, VLAN, firewall, or IP configuration before continuing.

Use Stable Miner IP Addresses

Miner IP addresses should remain predictable so the monitoring service can continue reaching the correct devices.

Recommended methods include:

  • DHCP reservations configured on the router
  • Properly managed static IP addresses
  • A documented IP allocation plan for the mining farm

Avoid assigning the same static IP address to more than one device.

Obtain Your Farm Key and Farm Secret

The PECPool Cloud Miner Monitor requires a Farm Key and Farm Secret to connect the monitoring installation to the correct PECPool farm.

To locate the credentials:

  1. Sign in to the official PECPool control panel.
  2. Open My Profile.
  3. Locate the section containing the Farm Key and Farm Secret.
  4. Copy the Farm Key.
  5. Copy the Farm Secret.
  6. Keep both values available during installation.

The official PECPool control panel addresses are:

Understanding the Monitoring Credentials

Credential Purpose
Farm Key Identifies the PECPool farm connected to the monitoring service
Farm Secret Authenticates communication for that farm

The Farm Key and Farm Secret are not:

  • Your PECPool login username
  • Your PECPool login password
  • Your miner administrator password
  • Your worker name
  • Your Bitcoin wallet address
  • Your Two-Factor Authentication code

Protect the Farm Secret

The Farm Secret is a sensitive credential.

Do not:

  • Publish it in screenshots
  • Send it in public Telegram groups
  • Place it in public documents
  • Store it in public source-code repositories
  • Share it with unauthorized technicians

If you believe the Farm Secret has been exposed, replace the affected credentials through the PECPool panel and update the monitoring installation.

Download the Official Installer

Download PECPool Monitoring only from the official PECPool download address:

https://static.pecpool.com/Upgrade/Setup.exe

Do not download the installer from unknown websites, file-sharing services, private messages, or unofficial Telegram accounts.

Using the official download address helps ensure that you receive the current PECPool setup file.

Step 1: Run the Installer

After downloading Setup.exe:

  1. Locate the downloaded file.
  2. Right-click the file.
  3. Select Run as administrator.
  4. Approve the Windows security prompt when the file was downloaded from the official PECPool address.
  5. Keep the computer connected to the internet during installation.

  • No space was added before the key.
  • No space was added after the key.
  • The key belongs to the intended PECPool farm.

Step 3: Enter the Farm Secret

After the Farm Key is accepted, the installer displays:

Enter your farm secret:

Enter the Farm Secret copied from the PECPool panel and press Enter.

When entering a secret in a command window, the characters may not always be displayed. This can be a normal security behavior.

Enter the value carefully and do not publish a screenshot containing the real credentials.

Step 4: Wait for Installation to Complete

The installer configures the required PECPool monitoring components and Windows background service.

During installation:

  • Do not close the setup window.
  • Do not restart Windows.
  • Do not disconnect the computer from the internet.
  • Do not run multiple copies of the installer at the same time.

Wait until the setup process reports that installation has completed.

What Happens After Installation?

After successful installation, the PECPool monitoring service runs in the background. The setup window does not need to remain open during normal operation.

The Windows computer must remain powered on and connected to the network for continuous monitoring.

The service requires:

The Installer Rejects the Farm Key or Secret

Check the following:

  • The Farm Key was copied from the correct PECPool farm.
  • The Farm Secret belongs to the same Farm Key.
  • The complete values were copied.
  • No spaces were added before or after the values.
  • An old or replaced credential is not being used.
  • The computer date and time are correct.
  • The internet connection is active.

Copy the credentials again directly from My Profile and repeat the installation.

The Service Is Installed but Not Running

If the service exists but shows Stopped:

  1. Open services.msc.
  2. Locate the PECPool monitoring service.
  3. Attempt to start it.
  4. Review any Windows error message.
  5. Check Windows Event Viewer for related errors.
  6. Confirm that antivirus software has not blocked the service.
  7. Confirm that the Farm Key and Secret are valid.

If the service stops again immediately, record the error and contact PECPool Support.

The Service Is Running but No Miners Appear

Check:

  • The Windows computer can reach the miners' local IP addresses.
  • The miners are powered on.
  • The miners have valid and unique IP addresses.
  • Network routing and VLAN rules allow access.
  • The Windows Firewall allows the monitoring service to operate.
  • The correct farm credentials were entered.
  • The selected miners and firmware are supported.
  • Enough time has passed for initial data collection.

Test a miner directly from the monitoring computer:

ping 192.168.1.100

Then test its local management page:

http://192.168.1.100

Some Miners Appear but Others Do Not

When only some miners are missing, compare the affected devices with the working devices.

Check:

  • IP address and subnet
  • Network switch and VLAN
  • Miner model and firmware
  • Local login credentials
  • API access on WhatsMiner devices
  • Duplicate IP addresses
  • Firewall rules

A problem affecting only one miner is less likely to be caused by the main PECPool monitoring installation.

Monitoring Stops After Windows Restarts

Check:

  • The PECPool service startup type
  • The service status after Windows starts
  • Windows Event Viewer
  • Antivirus or endpoint-protection events
  • Network availability during system startup

The service should be configured to start automatically with Windows.

Monitoring Data Is Delayed

Delayed updates may be caused by:

  • Unstable internet connectivity
  • High latency between the monitoring computer and PECPool
  • Packet loss on the local network
  • An overloaded Windows computer
  • An overloaded router or switch
  • Miner API response delays
  • A large number of monitored devices

Check the Windows computer's processor, memory, storage, and network usage.

Check Windows Firewall

The Windows Firewall must allow the monitoring service to communicate:

  • Outbound to PECPool
  • With miner IP addresses on the local or routed network

Do not expose the monitoring computer or miner web interfaces directly to the public internet.

Use secure local networking, firewall rules, and VPN access for remote administration.

Check Miner Network Isolation

Some farms place miners and management computers in separate VLANs.

When network segmentation is used, allow only the required communication between:

  • The monitoring computer
  • The miner management IP addresses
  • PECPool services

Confirm that routing and firewall policies allow return traffic.

Security Recommendations

  • Install the monitoring service only on a trusted Windows computer.
  • Keep Windows and security software updated.
  • Protect the Windows administrator account.
  • Restrict physical and remote access to the monitoring computer.
  • Do not share the Farm Secret.
  • Do not publish screenshots containing credentials.
  • Do not expose miner management pages directly to the internet.
  • Use a secure VPN for remote access.
  • Replace credentials if they are exposed.
  • Remove access for former staff or service providers.

Information to Provide to Support

If installation or monitoring still does not work, provide:

  • The Windows version
  • The approximate installation date and time
  • The displayed installer error
  • The monitoring service status
  • The number of miners
